I am excited to join the Cardinal family! I was born and raised in Hawaii and earned my Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education and a Masters in Education in Administration from the University of Hawaii at Mānoa in Honolulu. I gained much of my 10+ years of experience working in education in school districts located in Kohala, Ewa Beach, and Honolulu. I have served in those communities in a variety of positions, including over six years as a History and Social Studies teacher, five years as a student activities coordinator, and two years as an assistant principal. I have also served as a project director for the 21st Century Grant, which creates opportunities for low-income K-12 school districts, such as after-school activities, academic programs, and family resources. My husband and I moved to Washington state in July 2021 when I accepted a position at Spanaway Lake High School.
I wanted to work at OHS because Orting reminds me of home in Hawaii. I was raised in the rural town of Kohala on the Big Island and I absolutely love the small-town community vibe. I was told, like my hometown, it's common in Orting to see your teachers and principals at your local grocery store or restaurant and have small talk with them. It's those little things that build long-lasting relationships throughout local communities. I look forward to meeting students, staff, and families throughout town.
